If you are regular listener of the Thriving Dentist Show you know that although Gary is not a Dentist, he is the co-owner of a dental practice in Phoenix, Arizona. Gary and Dr. Paul Nielson are business partners in their dental practice by the name of LifeSmiles Dental Care. Gary wanted to own a dental practice to serve as a learning and teaching laboratory where he could test concepts and strategies and share the results with his audiences and his clients. Gary and Dr. Nielson bought a ‘fixer-upper’ practice in 2007 and have been transforming that practice into their ideal practice ever since. Although both Gary and Dr. Nielson would say that it is still a work in progress, they have managed to take a practice in need of work and develop that into a practice that is absolutely THRIVING, even in the face of a very challenging local economy.
Gary and Paul share some tips that have helped them take a struggling practice and transform it into a thriving practice. I don’t want to steal any of your thunder, but the great thing about what you have done is that it can be done by anyone listening to this Show! In a very short period of time you have taken a fixer-upper practice and evolved it into a practice that is in the top 2% of practices in the country.

Great show!
What a wonderful doctor and office! I’m so happy for both of you. I loved hearing about Dr. Neilsen’s background and especially that he has taken an occlusion course with Dr. Kois.
‘Loved the ‘No drama zone” rule. We call it “Leave your problems at home”. I do think that 360 reviews are better than one direction reviews and that open communication is of extreme importance in teamwork. I’d be happy to send you a copy of this type of review if you’d like. You might also enjoy this excellent book: Bad Apples by Sember and Sember. It really helped me a lot.
So great that you have a good relationship with and value orthodontists and pediatric dentists.
‘Loved the special phone idea. I do have a new idea for you regarding direct mail. I’ve done the mailing twice in 2012 with Afforable Image that Mr. Takacs recommended and it is good but I have had a more successful ROI with another company that I could share with you.
‘Love the Can Do attitude.
Congratulations to both of you. Your show reminded me why overall I have enjoyed The Thriving Dentist Show so much.
Thanks again for all that you have done.
